This year’s Procore Groundbreak Construction Conference was especially significant for Shawmut, which won the Construction Citizen award. Shawmut was recognized not only for its philanthropic work in local communities, but for creating a diverse and inclusive environment and dedicating resources to make changes within the company, the industry, and the community at large. Starting by declaring workplace equity a strategic priority, Shawmut has implemented benefits and offerings to advance its commitment to its people, including its Diversity Leadership Council (DLC), flexible work program (Shawmut Flex), and leadership development program.

CEO Les Hiscoe joined Procore’s president & COO for a Fireside Chat, discussing how Shawmut is steering away from the industry status quo. They discussed Shawmut’s three pillars: client service excellence, talent-driven, and leading-edge, and how Shawmut invests in its employees to ensure the firm can execute each pillar.

Vice president of retail and DLC chair David Margolius was a panelist on both Women in Construction and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Construction panels, joining the discussion on how AEC firms can establish frameworks that promote and create true equity in the workplace.
