DANBURY, CT - Nothing changes faster than the fashion world. Just ask fashion retailer Primark, whose new 70,000 SF store went through significant changes just before opening.
When Primark heard that the Danbury Fair Mall in Connecticut was looking for a new anchor, they knew this was a great opportunity to bring their fast-fashion brand to the Connecticut market. They also knew exactly who to call to make it happen. Working closely with Callison Architecture, Shawmut Design and Construction was able to complete the project within the fast-tracked 21-week window.
Corian doors, a brick façade with metal panels, and Primark’s signature logo adorn the outside of the store. Inside, guests immediately notice the high, open ceilings, sleek track and pendant lighting, freestanding plastic laminate millwork, and custom casework throughout. Behind the scenes, an all-new M/E/P system was installed.
With just two weeks to go before opening, Primark came up with new design ideas to enhance the space—some sections of the store were reworked, new signage had to be designed, ordered, and installed, and new décor was brought in. Working closely with the client, architect, and vendors, Shawmut came through without missing the deadline—understanding that, although they’re working for a fashion powerhouse, being fashionably late is never an option.
