NEW YORK, NY – Doesn’t it make sense that some of the most rare, most extraordinary jewels in the world should be showcased on one of the world’s most extraordinary streets? Luxury jeweler Nirav Modi thinks so.
When Nirav Modi wanted to open its first U.S. boutique in a 1,100 square foot space on Madison Avenue, it knew it also wanted to partner with Design Republic Partners and Shawmut Design and Construction to make it happen.
Nirav Modi chose Shawmut not only for its long history of building luxury jewelry stores, but for Shawmut’s extensive experience working on Madison Avenue and the unique challenges it poses—like how to navigate and mediate job flow on one of the busiest streets in the country. The Shawmut team guided Nirav Modi through the entire process—shipping material samples to Italy and Hong Kong for the client and conceptual designer to approve, having the project manager and assistant project manager on site nearly full-time, bringing in professional artists from Ernest Neuman to apply a specialty finish to the ceiling of the store, and holding weekly meetings with the client where everything was openly and thoroughly discussed—from pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic to cost and labor control.
The exterior of the store demands shoppers’ attention with its custom blackened storefront and ultra-clear glass showcasing the store’s breathtaking diamonds. Inside, guests are greeted by white Italian marble flooring, mirrored ceilings, copper wall panels, Italian millwork, and, of course, the priceless gems displayed in Nirav Modi’s signature cases and cabinets.
Along a street that is home to many famous gems, Nirav Modi’s first U.S. boutique already shines the brightest.
