BOSTON, MA – Shawmut celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony, commemorating the completion of Boston Medical Center’s first clinical campus redesign project, the Moakley Building Addition.
Shawmut executives joined Boston Medical Center President and CEO Kate Walsh on the Moakley green for the October 29 ceremony. Shawmut completed the new 31,438 square foot, four-story vertical addition and 3,545 square foot renovation of existing space as part of an institutional master plan that allows for the expansion of emergency, trauma, and centralized surgical units elsewhere on the BMC campus.
The new addition provides a new home for the Audiology and Digestive Disorder departments, while creating additional shell space in the basement, second, and penthouse floors. The project team utilized a Highly Collaborative Project Delivery (HCPD) method, which helped create much-needed access to critical space within the Moakley Building.
