NEW YORK, NY—While there may be no place like home, the newly renovated Smyth Hotel located in the Tribeca-area of NYC comes pretty close. The reinvented lobby and restaurant, Little Park, has brought a neighborhood-like feeling to this boutique hotel.
The lobby space is divided into four sections, the Living Room, Den, Library, and Evening Bar. Textiles and furnishings typically used in residential projects create a cozy, familiar environment while oiled, white oak floors and locally sourced materials reflect a New York state of mind.
The Den's Guastavino-tile fireplace mirrors the terracotta used on the ceiling in Grand Central Terminal and Carnegie Hall. Meanwhile, the 85-seat, neutral-toned Little Park restaurant features a white mosaic tile floor, blonde oak tables, and caramel leather banquettes--offering a home away from home for both guests and locals alike.
Working in an operational hotel is never an easy task, but the Shawmut team completed the project flawlessly, temporarily relocating guest reception using barricades and taking careful precautions as to not disturb the occupied guest rooms and residential tenants above.
